Planet MicroCap
Planet MicroCap needed a brand overhaul and consolidation to bring together several distinct parts of the family run media company under one comprehensive design system. We focused on clarifying the brands user experience to retain active customers, and built up a more playful visual language to attract a younger demographic just dipping their feet in the world of microcap investing.

Session Table
Covid norms required a restructuring of home space. The session table is a piece of performance furniture designed to shift between work, play and creative sessions. Subtle design details in this piece afford the myriad technical requirements of a full podcast recording session, while still maintaining an elegant look and feel for a worktable that feels just as at home, in your home.

Align Cabinet
Putting on a vinyl record is all about the ritual: checking the atmosphere of room, selecting a record with care, dropping the needle, awaiting the satisfying pop and subsequent flow of music, sitting back to enjoy it while proudly displaying the album cover... This is the intent behind the Cabinet of Record. A piece of performance furniture shaped into a classic silhouette with modern details. The design and production where all tailored to create small moments of convenience and joy: from a subtle side shelf, to the floating top where records drop into slots to display what’s playing or most prized.

Sofia Collection
Between the transitions of place and career, the common casualties are those relationships we’ve left behind and… our furniture. We’ve either trashed a piece that isn’t worth moving, or sold off a piece that’s too difficult to transport. The Sofia Line sits somewhere in the middle: furniture designed for transition. Solid enough for decades worth of use, modular enough to support repair or style changes, and built with the notion that carrying a sofa into your New York apartment shouldn’t leave scars on your wall or your psyche.

El Pinguino
What might it look like to translate bring Spanish style tapas & conservas to a tucked away corner of Greenpoint in Brooklyn, NY? El Pingüino is a seafood bar built on a neighborhood ethic with an international point of view. I collaborated with my uncle, John Ortiz on the seating in the space. The interior setting creates an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. It toes the line between a platter of oysters and a sleeve of saltines: catering to refined elegance, without forgetting the authentic, hand made patina that makes your favorite bar, well, your favorite bar.

Pinterest Havens
Havens was an immersive experience of art, workshops, and community events centered around investing in rest. I designed and fabricated multi-purpose installation and seating pieces to complement the art brought to life by my friend. artist and project lead, Dwight White. The result was a weekend long event during which our work became both the setting for reflection, as well as the canvas for expression.

Mercurio Desk
Conceptualized, designed for scale, and fabricated a modern desk with traditional joinery, using thoughtful techniques. The Mercurio Desk is simple and solid. Hefty enough to take on a serious workstation, adaptable enough to fit in the back seat of last year’s Honda Civic on it’s way up to Seattle, Washington. A combination of traditional joinery (feat. bridle joints and through-tenons) with strategically placed fasteners (top to legs, legs to stretcher) make this table the next step up from your grandad’s favorite writing desk. What do you do with your Covid Stimmy Money?
